Health Problems With Soda

by YoliFan

The current state of health in the United States is devastating. We are the most technically advanced nation on our planet and yet our healthcare is terrible. More than half of the people are overweight and over 25% are obese. Do we blame sugar or do we blame the founders of soda and fast food? Our bodies are not designed to withstand the acidity of certain foods and drinks. Soda has a pH level of 2.5 which is almost the same as nitric acid or hydrochloric acid which have a pH level of 1. It is even more acidic and possibly more damaging than alcohol. I know what you are thinking, this really is terribly bad for your teeth. You may argue that diet sodas contain far less sugar than regular sodas and are mostly made up of artificial sweeteners. You should also know that they are still highly acidic and may damage your teeth in the long run. Save yourself from dentist appointments and future health problems by not drinking soda. Remember, drinking soda can harm your diets even more than eating, because soda does not make you any less hungry. In fact, diet sodas have been proven to actually make you more hungry. One of the fatal problems in this drink is that it is packed with artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners should be avoided at all costs regardless of the product they may be found in. They are known to make your body crave more carbohydrate-based foods. This will make you eat more carbohydrates, thus making you gain more pounds.

Energy Drink Side Effects

by YoliFan

Energy drink is so popular these days that it can be found almost everywhere. Energy drink is consumed by millions of people each month. This is great for manufacturers but is bad for people’s health. Most consumers don’t drink energy drink on regular basis but there are some consumers who do. The consumers who drink it on regular basis will eventually feel its negative side effects. In the short-run, most energy drinks don’t cause major health problems. In the long-run, they can lead to serious chronic diseases. Side effects can range from: insomnia, headaches, stomachaches, tremors, dehydration, blood sugar spikes, energy crashes, and increase of heart and breathing rate. From studying energy drinks, I would say over ninety-eight percent of them are not healthy to drink. To make matters worst, most brands of them have sugar-free versions. The sugar-free versions are worst than the regular ones because they contained artificial sweetener. The most common artificial sweetener found in energy drink is sucralose. Energy drink usually contained cheap synthetic vitamins and minerals, and synthetic chemicals. It also contained a lot of energy blends, such as taurine, herbs and caffeine. The herbs shouldn’t cause major health problems but some herbs can have strange side effects when mixed with other chemicals. The ingredients in energy drink that I’m most concerned about are: synthetic vitamins and minerals, refined sugar and sucralose.

Synthetic vitamins and minerals:
The vitamins and minerals found in most energy drinks are cheaply made and synthetic. The main purpose for this is to increase profit. Certain synthetic vitamins and minerals are more stable than their natural version, which is why beverage manufacturers like to use them in their products. Energy drink usually contained a lot of water-soluble vitamins, such as B-vitamins and vitamin C. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve quickly in liquid; therefore, it is useless to add them in beverages. For this reason, when you consume energy drink you are basically consuming a drink that is full of empty calories.

Are Energy Drinks Bad For You?

by YoliFan

Are energy drinks bad for you? And if so, how do we spot the signs that energy drinks are bad? First we need to figure out why energy drinks are bad and then find out how to spot the classic signs that you might be suffering from the harmful side effects of energy drinks.Let’s start with a short anecdote. You may have heard the story about the young high school football player who died of a heart attack in the middle of a game. Such a horrible shame. The significance? Apparently he had consumed several cans of a popular brand of energy drink before the game…

So what can we learn from this? Well, if nothing else, it prompts us to investigate whether or not we really should be consuming this stuff in the mass quantities that we are. We need to understand the key ingredients and how to tell if any harmful side effects are manifesting in us.Most of the famous energy drink brands are being slammed for their dependence on two main ingredients. The first, of course, is caffeine. The second, not surprisingly, is sugar. These sound pretty harmless. So what’s the big deal? Well, with sugar, it’s easy. Our generation is already suffering from skyrocketing rates of diabetes and the mountains of sugar dumped into our energy drinks isn’t exactly going to help. But you already knew that.

What about the caffeine?

All around the world, people have been drinking coffee and tea for eons. Why the sudden fear? Here’s the thing. The average American drinks the equivalent of around three cups of coffee a day. And generally speaking, he lives to see his next cup. So how about that football player? He must have had a bad heart to begin with right? The problem is that there are significant differences between a cup of coffee and a can of energy drink. The first is that a lot of the popular energy drinks that are marketed towards teens and young people contain more than twice the amount of caffeine in a typical cup of coffee. The second is that while your average Joe sips his cup of joe over a newspaper, your average rock star chugs his can of Rockstar over two more cans of Rockstar.

Health issues are dominating human lives. Despite so much of medical R & D happening around the world, lifestyle diseases are making humans weaker. Natural ways, alternate therapies which have the least side effects are becoming more popular. Take for instance, an antioxidant drink that is being promoted for health reasons. There are many and they are being promoted by brands that make healthy drinks. An antioxidant drink should not be confused with an energy drink. The latter is based on high proteins whereas the antioxidant supplement is has several nutrients that act as speed breakers when absorbed by the body. Well, they are also said to retard or slow down the aging process. It is the unhealthy lifestyles and dietary habits that have made the need of having an antioxidant supplement important. The consumption of even one antioxidant drink every morning improves the overall health.

There are many benefits of an antioxidant drink. There is to spend your energy in digesting and chewing. It is already in the liquid form and the body will be able to extract nutrients from it in greater quantity. The antioxidant supplement works on the signs of aging and on the skin, making one look much younger. They help the body to get rid of harmful free radicals. Dangers Of Energy Drinks

by YoliFan

You seem them advertised all over the place. Energy drinks can be found everywhere from health food stores to your common supermarket. The claims associated with these drinks range from the sublime to the preposterous. Yet, millions of Americans are buying these high powered pick-me-ups on a regular basis without giving even a single thought to how good or bad these drinks really are.

The truth is, not all energy drinks are the same. While many of the ingredients are common among them, each drink has its own little twist to it. And reading the labels of these drinks isn’t going to help the average consumer much if they don’t know what to look for.

The problem with many of these energy drinks is not what you know is in them but what you don’t know or aren’t familiar with. While one of the most common ingredients in these drinks is caffeine, this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as problems go. And yes, caffeine, especially in large quantities, is dangerous as it raises your blood pressure to begin with, not to mention other problems associated with the use of caffeine.

But what about the other common ingredients in energy drinks, the ones you probably never heard of? We are just beginning to learn of the problems associated with some of these ingredients, especially when mixed with other things, such as drugs.

To give you an example of what I am talking about, guarana, which is a very popular ingredient in many energy drinks, is a central nervous system stimulant. What you don’t know is that consuming these drinks and then mixing them with drinks containing ephedrine or diet pills can be very dangerous.
