The appropriate use of additives, though, allows us to enjoy history’s safest and most abundant assortment of foods.Some 10,000 substances make their way into food during growing, processing, and packaging; some of these accidental additives can pose more of a health threat than preservatives and other direct additives. Some foods, for example, contain traces of pesticides sprayed on crops or applied to the soil. Environmental pollutants in foods, such as PCBs, mercury, and lead, are harmful when ingested in large quantities.Sometimes allergic reactions that are blamed on foods or intentional additives are actually triggered by an unintended one. For example, a person who has never had a food allergy may inexplicably develop a rash after drinking milk. The resulting small amounts of penicillin in the milk would not be harmful for most people, only to those who are allergic to the drug.

Recent studies show that drinking caffeinated soda and coffee can help protect you from liver diseases. Research has found that caffeine can help reduce the risk of liver damage. Though it is not really clear how caffeine can help, some theories say that caffeine blocks the receptor found the liver and brain and may have effects in our immunity to certain diseases. But this is still speculative, and there are no certain answers yet to the effects of caffeine on the liver. Though it is not often that one finds heath benefits in coffee, the effects of caffeine on the liver may change our minds. There were about 6,000 people who were at risk for developing diseases that affects the liver. Some from hepatitis, obesity, excessive drinking and other elements that are widely known to cause liver malfunction; during the research, the people were ask how much tea, coffee or any caffeinated sodas they consume.

The argument is that because corn syrup does not exist in nature, it cannot be called a natural product, and therefore is not to be considered healthy.
