Fructose is a simple sugar that is found naturally in most fruits and vegetables. The amount of naturally occurring fructose found in whole foods is small, and because there is evidence showing that small amounts do not raise blood sugar levels significantly, it has long been considered a good sugar and a healthy substitute for refined sugar. Enter high fructose corn syrup. Since its introduction, the amount of HFCS consumed on a daily basis has skyrocketed, and with that, so has the fructose debate.Ultimately, the debate boils down to a single simple question: Is fructose good for you? Because the main source in the modern diet now comes from corn syrup, this product tends to be at the center of most debates. High fructose corn syrup is a highly processed sugar that consists of both glucose and fructose. However, the amount of fructose in a single gram of corn syrup exceeds the amount found naturally in fresh fruits and vegetables.For some, the issue is centered around processing. The argument is that because corn syrup does not exist in nature, it cannot be called a natural product, and therefore is not to be considered healthy. To support this argument, studies reveal that the process by which corn is turned into HFCS requires mercury. This process has led to trace amounts of mercury being found in HFCS, substantiating the claim that it is not a healthy sweetener. In addition, it is argued that high fructose consumption leads to high density belly fat which has been linked to many health and medical issues.

Probiotics

This process may not directly involve the rest of the immune system. Even still, the immune system will be notified of any probiotic offensives. The immune system will support the process by breaking up and escorting dead pathogens out of the body.Probiotics produce chemical substances that destroy invading microorganisms. Probiotics make up our body’s own antibiotic system. Because probiotics want to survive, they have developed various strategies to defend their host (our body). It is a territorial issue. Invading bacteria threaten their homes and families. Probiotics also learn how to fight newer bacteria species and new bacteria strategies. While static pharmaceutical antibiotics are counteracted by smart super-bugs, probiotics can alter their antibiotic strategies as needed. Our continued survival illustrates their intelligence.

Probiotics produce antimicrobial biochemicals that manage, damage or kill pathogenic microorganisms. In some cases, they will simply overcrowd the invaders with biochemistry and populations to limit their growth. In other cases, they will secrete chemicals into the fluid environment to eradicate large populations. In still other cases, they will insert specific chemicals into the invaders, which will directly kill them. Probiotic mechanisms are quite complex and variegated to say the least.

In fact, many bottled waters are frequently recalled after the discovery of contaminants likely to cause health problems and are really best avoided.Glass or BPA free stainless steel will preserve the taste and purity of the water and help to encourage you to drink more which in turn helps to improve your health and well-being. They can be stored for as long as you like with no risk of contamination.

This is especially true when it comes to alternative medicine or traditional Chinese medicine, because opponents of these medicinal practices argue that there is no clinical evidence to support the fact that millions of individuals around the world have been successfully using traditional forms of medicine for thousands of years. And something that should be taken into account is the anecdotal evidence spread out over several thousand years. This should be considered equally as important as clinical studies.In any case, a recent alternative theory arising out of the University of Turku in Finland is showing yet another reason to take the super product known as probiotics. Long considered one of the most healthy types of live microorganisms living in the body, inhibiting pathogens and toxins produced in bacteria as well as improving the balance of intestinal flora, probiotics have been touted as one of those wonder elements that every individual should take, and the most recent study from Finland is showing that probiotics can actually help pregnant women lose belly fat more quickly after giving birth than women who do not take probiotics.The cases specifically looked at 256 expectant women and found that the women who took probiotics during the first trimester of pregnancy had reduced body fat a year after giving birth in comparison to the women who did not take probiotics. They were divided into three groups, with the first group receiving dietary counseling, low-fat foods, and probiotics. The second group received counseling, food, as well as a placebo, and the third group received only the placebo. 12 months after giving birth, all the women were measured for waist circumference and level of body fat, and what the research showed was the women who took probiotics had a 25% central obesity rate in comparison to the women who did not take probiotics, who had a 43% central obesity rate. The pure placebo group had 40%.

BPA in Plastic Baby Bottles

We as consumers are very trusting regarding products we buy in the store. If you go into the Baby Bottle Dept. in any major retail store you will see a variety of different types of Baby Products. Have you ever considered the possibility of chemical contamination into your Babies formula thru the plastic bottles when they are heated up?Bisphenol is the main chemical that leaches out from the plastic in the Baby Bottles you are using for your child. If you heat a Baby Bottle up, it will leach Bisphenol A at about 3 to 7 parts per billion into their formula. Well, what do I do is your first reaction to this problem?We at Safe Homes do not recommend using any form of Baby Bottles made of plastic. The long term consequences of heating your child’s formula up in plastic is not known yet. Do you want your Baby to be one of the victims of this long term study on our children’s health. Bisphenol has been linked to a variety of problems such as breast and prostrate cancer. This is only the beginning, other studies have showed other health problems such as early puberty, miscarriage and other sex hormone effects. So far there is no conclusive evidence as to what Bisphenol will do to your health or your Babies development in their early years. It will take a lot of evidence to prove this but do you want your child to be one of the early test victims such as the Asbestos victims that took 30 years to prove.I have one client who would always run up and kiss her father when he came home from the Asbestos Factory when she was a child in the 1940’s. She never thought that a simple kiss for her father would lead to a serious Respiratory problem that she has to live with now called Mesothelioma. I sure if her father would have known the seriousness of Asbestos, he would have never exposed his daughter to Asbestos Dust from his clothes.
